This is a full-time acute care Speech & Language Pathologist I position at a major oncology medical center. As a Speech & Language Pathologist I, you will provide quality patient care and family training through evaluation, treatment planning, and the application and assignment of speech-language pathology modalities and procedures in accordance with the regulations governing the practice of speech and language pathology and in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the City of Hope National Medical Center. You will demonstrate entry-level skills in developing treatment goals and plans based on evaluation data, rehabilitation potential, discharge plans, and in coordination with the goals and plans of the patient, family, and other care team members. You will also demonstrate creativity in implementing patient treatment programs that are safe, effective, and efficient. Modifying treatment plans according to patient needs and progress, terminating treatment appropriately, and developing appropriate discharge and post-discharge plans will be key responsibilities. Collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals will ensure ongoing integrated patient care, while establishing and maintaining therapeutic relationships with patients and caregivers will be essential. You will attend team and family conferences, interpret pertinent findings, and contribute to the development of a multidisciplinary plan of care. Effective communication with all levels of staff and fostering teamwork within the department while meeting the needs of departments being served will be crucial to your success in this role.
