About The Position

The Speech Language Pathologist works as a member of the interdisciplinary patient care team. They perform an individualized evaluation, design goal-directed customized interventions to improve the patient's cognitive function, swallow safety, and ability to communicate. They periodically review the patient's performance to ensure that the goals are being met and/or make changes to the intervention plan. Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Speech Pathology
  • Speech-Language Pathology - American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - State Department for Aging and Disability Services (KS), Department of Health & Senior Services (MO) - Includes licenses for all other states
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Communication Disorders or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients in clinical area served. Therapist considers all aspects of the patient including the physical, psychosocial, developmental, and cultural needs. Evaluation results are communicated to the physician, family, and other team members in a clear and concise manner.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans using appropriate problem solving skills, and clinical reasoning. The therapist serves as a resource to staff members and students.
  • Documentation is clear and concise, and in compliance with departmental KSHA and ASHA guidelines, and regulatory requirements from third party payers.
  • Demonstrates understanding of regulatory requirements as it pertains to the clinical area served - Follows all departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
  • May assist to develop, collect, and analyze performance improvement data.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
