The Speech Language Pathologist Coordinator provides inpatient acute care services and is a vital member of a multidisciplinary team providing advanced, high-quality healthcare. This role combines clinical expertise with administrative leadership, overseeing the delivery, quality, and compliance of speech-language pathology services within the organization, ensuring effective therapy programs, staff support, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • MBS (Modified Barium Swallow) required
  • NYS SLP license and registration
  • Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CCC-SLP)
  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Strong communication skills
  • 1-2 years of experience required, preferably in a hospital setting

  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Inpatient services of cardiac, orthopedic, neurologic, vascular, pulmonary and medical-surgical patients
  • Educates patient and family members
  • Work with interdisciplinary team for plan of care
  • Develops and implements speech-language therapy programs
  • Maintains service quality standards and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manages caseload distribution
  • Supervises and supports speech-language pathologists
  • Ensures evidence-based practices are implemented in therapy services
  • Monitors patient/client progress and program outcomes
  • Oversees accurate and timely documentation, evaluations, and reports
  • Prepares for audits and accreditation processes
  • Knowledge of hospital, Joint Commission, state and federal guidelines
