About The Position

Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation seeks to hire an experienced Speech Language Pathologist for our Inpatient Therapy Department who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a per diem Speech Language Pathologist, you will perform an initial examination and evaluation to establish an impairment/diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care prior to intervention for all persons served with basic and some complex rehabilitation needs in acute care, outpatient, or inpatient rehabilitation settings. You will provide, or direct and supervise, the therapy intervention consistent with the results of the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care. The therapist involves the patient/client and appropriate others in the planning, implementation, and assessment of the plan of care. You will also communicate, coordinate and document all aspects of patient/client management including the results of the initial examination and evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, plan of care, interventions, response to interventions, barriers to progress, changes in patient/client status relative to the interventions, reexamination, and discharge/discontinuation of intervention and other patient/client management activities with members of the care team as indicated.

Requirements

  • Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience (at least 1 year in setting preferred).
  • Active Maryland SLP License.
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • MBS and/or FEES training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform an initial examination and evaluation to establish an impairment/diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care prior to intervention for all persons served.
  • Provide, or direct and supervise, the therapy intervention consistent with the results of the examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care.
  • In consultation with appropriate disciplines, plan for discharge of the patient/client.
  • Communicate, coordinate and document all aspects of patient/client management.
  • Supervise and direct the patient care activities of assigned rehab aides, office assistants, and volunteers.
  • Manage schedule to accommodate range in census and patient load.
  • Attend team meetings and effectively communicate patient status.
  • Be responsible for individual and assigned hospital performance improvement and professional development activities.
  • Educate and provide consultation to consumers, healthcare professionals, and the public regarding the purposes and benefits of therapy.
