About The Position

Memorial Rehabilitation Institute provides highly specialized care ranging from complex multiple trauma, stroke and brain injury to physical and speech therapy. Inpatient care is offered at Memorial Regional Hospital South, with outpatient care available in five different locations. We also have a home health team and resources for long-term care at Memorial Manor, while also offering therapy for pediatric developmental diagnosis through Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. Summary: This SLP will be part of the cochlear implant team and will be treating aural rehab patients in addition to traditional speech and language. Evaluates and treats patient populations for speech-language pathology needs.

  • Masters: Speech-Language Pathology (Required)
  • BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • BLS American Heart RQI E-Card (BLS AHA-RQI ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • BLS Certification Grace (BLS GRACE) - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential (GRACE)
  • BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross (RED CROSS)
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence_Speech/Language (CCC-SLP) - American Speech/Language Hearing Assc (ASHA)
  • Speech-Language Pathology License (SA LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
  • Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • No prior work experience required.
  • Certification of clinical competence and/or in the process of obtaining a clinical fellow.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and mentors activities of peers, fellows and other support personnel.
  • Performs and documents initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
  • Designs and implements a plan of care which is appropriate to issues identified, required frequency of treatments, and involves the patient/family.
  • Educates and counsels patients and families regarding treatment plans and progress.
  • Provides information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support resources.
  • Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services.
