The Speech Language Pathologist position at the School District of Pickens County is designed to support students with speech and language impairments. The role involves screening, evaluating, diagnosing, and providing therapy services to students under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The Speech Language Pathologist will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to develop individualized goals and ensure compliance with educational regulations.

  • Screens, evaluates, and diagnoses speech/language disorders and determines student eligibility for speech therapy services.
  • Develops goals, objectives, methods, and materials to assist students in achieving their highest potential.
  • Provides speech/language services in full compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintains student records in compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.
  • Consults with principals, clinicians, teachers, parents, and other agencies as needed.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competency.
  • Attends school and district staff meetings.
  • Participates in professional staff development programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal and the Executive Director of Special Services.
  • Master's degree or higher from an accredited institution in Speech Pathology.
  • SC LLR Speech-Language Pathologist license.
  • ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence.
  • Valid SC Teacher Certification in Speech Language Pathologist.
  • SDPC Teacher Salary Schedule plus $5,000
  • 190 Days/7.5 Hours per day
