About The Position

The Speech Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered care by developing and conducting individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing impairments. As a member of the health care team, the Speech Therapist performs comprehensive patient assessments and establishes appropriate treatment goals. The Speech Therapist serves as an educator to patients, families, students and colleagues.

Requirements

Current Speech Language Pathology licensure in the state of Kansas Certificate of Clinical Competence through ASHA in Speech Language Pathology
New graduates require Certificate of Clinical Competence through ASHA within 18 months of employment
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course through American Heart Assoc. or American Red Cross - Healthcare Provider CPR
Masters of Arts or Science in Speech Language Pathology

Responsibilities

Conduct a subjective assessment of assigned patient's speech language abilities during spontaneous conversation. You will administer objective tests to assess patient's communication assets and liabilities.
Structure and implement individualized patient program to improve communication abilities.
Evaluate patient regularly during treatment and adjust program as needed to maximize patient progress.
Document progress in patient's chart. You will complete notes, charges, discharge notes and patient communication.
Consult with Program Director and Rehab Physician/Medical Director regarding pre-screen assessments and physician consultations to determine appropriate placement of potential patients.
