As a member of the health care team, the Speech Therapist performs comprehensive patient assessments and establishes appropriate treatment goals. The Speech Therapist serves as an educator to patients, families, students and colleagues. Requirements

Licensed (SLP) Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of Texas
A Masters Degree degree from an accredited speech therapy program
BLS certification required or must be completed within the first 30 days of employment
A minimum of 1 year experience (post CF year) in an acute care setting is required, rehab experience preferred
Must be able to work a minimum of 2 shifts per month

Responsibilities

You will conduct a subjective assessment of assigned patient's speech language abilities during spontaneous conversation.
You will administer objective tests to assess patient's communication assets and liabilities.
You will structure and implement individualized patient program to improve communication abilities.
You will evaluate patient regularly during treatment and adjust program as needed to maximize patient progress.
You will document progress in patient's chart. You will complete notes, charges, discharge notes and patient communication.
You will consult with Program Director and Rehab Physician/Medical Director regarding pre-screen assessments and physician consultations to determine appropriate placement of potential patients.
