About The Position

Provide Speech-Language Pathology diagnostic and therapeutic services to clients in a variety of clinical settings.

Requirements

  • Preferred: Previous experience in the profession of speech-language pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA.
  • Obtained at least a Master's degree in speech-language pathology or its equivalent.
  • Clinical fellowship and/or NYS License in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • NYS Ed Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) certification or TSHH (as required by program).

Responsibilities

  • Provides Diagnostic Services requiring 5% or less supervision.
  • Demonstrates strong diagnostic skills in at least three of the five following clinical areas: Adult speech-language, Pediatric speech-language, Voice, Dysphagia (adult or pediatric), Other: CF, LLD, MBS, FEESST, video-stroboscopy, fluency, augmentative.
  • Consistently selects, utilizes, and accurately interprets appropriate testing materials and/or instrumentation based on presenting needs.
  • Independently pursues and achieves updated knowledge in a wide variety of assessment tools.
  • Actively participates in research on potential updates, modifications, and/or improvements to clinical or departmental protocol/instrumentation/testing methods.
  • Provides Treatment Services requiring 5% or less supervision.
  • Demonstrates strong treatment skills in at least three of the five following clinical areas: Adult speech-language, Pediatric speech-language, Voice, Dysphagia (adult or pediatric), Other: CF, LLD, MBS, FEESST, video-stroboscopy, fluency, augmentative.
  • Consistently selects and utilizes appropriate therapy materials and/or instrumentation based on presenting needs.
  • Independently pursues and achieves updated knowledge in a wide variety of specialized area of treatment techniques or treatment tools.
  • Consistently selects engaging, functional therapy activities.
  • Designs all therapy services around patient interests.
  • Clinical Documentation includes thorough discussion of problem, results, and recommendations.
  • Evaluation documentation consistently includes interpretation of results and findings clearly supported by presenting concerns and test data.
  • Makes appropriate clinical recommendations and referrals, consistently following department procedures.
  • Treatment documentation is consistently functional, measurable, specific, and objective.
  • Clinical documentation is accurate, thorough, and complete 90% of the time according to department standards.
  • Clinical documentation is completed in a timely manner according to department standards 85% of the time.
  • Departmental documentation is accurate and complete 90% of the time.
  • Departmental documentation meets timeliness standards 85% of the time.
  • Consistently reports findings/progress directly to patient/caregiver in a clear and concise manner.
  • Consistently educates and counsels caregivers and patients to facilitate carryover of recommendations/skills.
  • Seeks input from patient/caregivers and other involved professionals.
  • Maintains productivity of at least 50% on average while efficiently providing services in multiple sites.
  • Consistently communicates with supervisor/coordinator when schedule openings occur.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify challenges, issues or problems, seeking appropriate support when needed.
  • Participates in at least 1 outreach activity per year.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
