About The Position

The position involves providing Speech-Language Pathology diagnostic and therapeutic services to clients in various clinical settings. The role requires strong diagnostic and treatment skills across multiple clinical areas, effective communication with patients and caregivers, and thorough documentation of clinical activities.

Requirements

  • Preferred: Previous experience in speech-language pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA.
  • Master's degree in speech-language pathology or its equivalent.
  • Clinical fellowship and/or NYS License in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • NYS Ed Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) certification or TSHH.

Responsibilities

  • Provides Diagnostic Services requiring 5% or less supervision.
  • Demonstrates strong diagnostic skills in at least three of the five clinical areas: Adult speech-language, Pediatric speech-language, Voice, Dysphagia (adult or pediatric), and other areas such as CF, LLD, MBS, FEESST, video-stroboscopy, fluency, augmentative.
  • Consistently selects, utilizes, and accurately interprets appropriate testing materials based on presenting needs.
  • Independently pursues and achieves updated knowledge in a variety of assessment tools.
  • Actively participates in research on potential updates, modifications, and/or improvements to clinical or departmental protocol.
  • Provides Treatment Services requiring 5% or less supervision.
  • Demonstrates strong treatment skills in at least three of the five clinical areas.
  • Consistently selects and utilizes appropriate therapy materials based on presenting needs.
  • Designs all therapy services around patient interests.
  • Maintains accurate clinical documentation including evaluation and treatment documentation.
  • Communicates findings and progress directly to patients and caregivers in a clear manner.
  • Maintains productivity of at least 50% on average while providing services in multiple sites.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by identifying challenges and suggesting process improvements.
  • Participates in outreach activities and performs other related duties as assigned.
