About The Position

The Speech Communication Instructor at Normandale Community College is responsible for teaching a variety of communication courses to a diverse student body. The instructor will engage in curriculum development, assessment of student learning outcomes, and contribute to departmental goals while fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Master's degree with a major in speech, speech communication, or communication, or communication studies, or a Master's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits in speech, speech communication, or communication studies.
  • Experience in course construction, teaching/instructional methods, and student outcomes assessment/evaluation.
  • Three years of successful full-time teaching experience or equivalent prior to being hired.

  • Demonstrated commitment to collegial activities.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a broad spectrum of Communication courses including day and evening classes, utilizing different instructional modalities such as online, face-to-face, and hybrid formats.
  • Work collaboratively to maintain a student-ready learning environment that meets the educational needs of a diverse student body.
  • Contribute to department, division, and college goals for program planning, implementation, evaluation, and support.
  • Engage in scholarly activities consistent with the college's goals.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the success and retention of underrepresented students.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of curricula and courses.
  • Participate in faculty and department meetings and College-wide committees.
