About The Position

The speech/language pathologist is responsible for providing speech therapy services to clients of the agency. The primary function is the provision of direct patient care, including collaboration with other team members and participation in the development of the patient’s comprehensive plan of care. This is a 13-week travel assignment in Pittsfield, MA, requiring the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • 2 years minimum SLP Home Care experience is required
  • Valid Driver License required for this need is required
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision/assistance
  • Master or Doctorate Degree is required
  • Active American Heart Association BLS/BCLS is required
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) is required
  • MA SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST LICENSE is required
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with rehabilitation equipment, including but not limited to, language/communication aids, devices and wheelchairs
  • Traveler candidate must have their own vehicle
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Willingness to participate in continuing education and training programs
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Strong communication, professionalism, and reliability
  • Drug screen and background check (facility required)
  • Additional facility onboarding forms as assigned

Nice To Haves

  • Acute care experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating levels of swallowing, speech and language difficulty
  • Identifying treatment options
  • Creating and carrying out individualized treatment plans addressing specific functional needs
  • Teaching patients how to make sounds while improving their voices and maintaining fluency
  • Helping individuals improve sentence structure and vocabulary used in written and oral language
  • Working with adults and children in developing and strengthening muscles used to swallow
  • Counseling individuals and families on ways to cope with swallowing and communication disorders
