The Speech Teacher is a credentialed special education teacher who serves in an itinerant role of providing speech therapy services to students pre-school through twelfth grade. The Speech teacher has responsibility for individuals with speech therapy needs.

  • Provides information and assistance to individuals with speech therapy needs and to their parents.
  • Assesses students referred to special education as a member of the assessment team.
  • Manages a caseload of students at different school sites and works toward the accomplishment of long and short term goals as stated on the student's Individualized Educational Program.
  • Provides consultation, and material regarding individuals with speech therapy needs to their parents and to regular staff members.
  • Monitors student progress on a regular basis and participates in the review and revision of individual education programs as appropriate.
  • Appropriate credential authorizing Speech and Language Services such as a Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential for Speech, Language and Hearing.
  • Bilingual - Spanish
  • Computer Literacy
  • Working experience with SEI or similar IEP software
  • Medical insurance plans are available on the Azusa Unified School District website in the staff section.
  • Employees working a 90+% assignment are required to take at least single coverage health insurance with the Azusa Unified School District or provide proof of coverage through another group plan.
