About The Position

Speech and Language Pathologist (Independent Contractor Job Description TITLE: Speech and Language Pathologist (Part Time-5 hours per week) JOB GOAL: To support the communication needs of Barrington students who are parentally placed at private schools PERFORMANCE QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrates the content competencies as prescribed by ASHA. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to operate a keyboard, to view a computer screen, and to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Required vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms, grasp and manipulate large and small items. The employee is also required to drive, move from location to location, lift items weighing up to 30 pounds. Communication requirements include the ability to hear and respond to voice and other sounds in small and large settings with background noise and to present information orally and in writing. Requirements

  • Speech and Language Pathologist Certification Granted by the Rhode Island Department of Education
  • Experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist in a school setting
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA)

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to federal and state special education regulations.
  • Communicates high and clear expectations for students.
  • Administers and/or reviews a variety of speech and language assessments and competently shares findings with key stakeholders and interprets test data in order to support student growth.
  • Develops, implements and monitors meaningful and measurable Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Services Plans to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
  • Communicates with parents regarding students' communication needs.
  • Provides speech and language screening
  • Maintains thorough records for each student.
  • Exhibits attributes of reliable attendance, promptness, dependability, and professional ethics; Uses effective communication skills with students, colleagues, families and related agencies (spoken, written and non-verbal); Completes all requested forms, reports, and data collections in an accurate and timely manner; Perform the functions of the position in accordance with the: ASHA Content Competences; RI Professional Code of Conduct; and all laws, regulations, school district policies, directives, the mission of the district, school-based plans, and administrative priorities / requests.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned and/or necessary to perform the functions of the position.
