About The Position

Speech and Language Pathologist - 1.0 FTE Student Services Reports To : Director of Student Services Salary : Per the FHEA Master Agreement Salary Schedule Schedule : Beginning with the 2026-2027 School Year Job Summary: Provide expert speech and language pathology services to students.

Requirements

  • Meets State of Michigan requirements as a Speech and Language Pathologist.

Nice To Haves

  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence
  • Teaching certification
  • Experience and knowledge of language articulation development, fluency, and voice intervention/remediation strategies
  • Experience and knowledge of speech and language development in special populations including students with early childhood developmental delays, cognitive impairments, and autism spectrum disorders
  • Familiarity with Michigan Speech-Language Hearing Association and Kent Intermediate School District speech and language guidelines
  • Knowledge of Response to Intervention initiative and strategies
  • Prefer experience and knowledge with a wide range of school-age students

Responsibilities

  • Ability to relate positively and work cooperatively with students, school staff, and parents
  • Provide diagnostic, consultative, and direct speech and language services to students in both individual and small group settings; establishing goals based on assessments, data, and student need; and documenting student progress on goals and objectives
  • Provide speech and language assessment and diagnostic services and effectively functioning as an evaluation team member
  • Function as speech and language consultant for special and general education teachers regarding the integration of language instruction into the curriculum
  • Organize and balance a variety of complex job responsibilities including therapy, consultation, and compliance
  • Ability to understand and fulfill special education requirements by law
  • Collaborate with the IEP team to create a comprehensive plan to support the needs of the student while working toward their IEP goals and objectives. This includes assisting with all areas of the student’s disability related needs including evaluations
  • Relate positively and work cooperatively with students, school staff, and parents
  • Attend and participate in all special education meetings
  • Participate in professional development activities aimed at current trends and best practices
  • Consistent and reliable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned
