About The Position

Bensalem Township School District is anticipating to hire a Speech and Language Pathologist POSITION TITLE: Speech and Language Pathologist (School-Based) REPORTS TO: Assistant to the Superintendent of Special Services POSITION GOAL: The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) provides evaluation, intervention, and consultation services to students with speech, language, communication, and related disorders that impact their educational performance. Services are delivered in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and applicable federal and state regulations. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Excellent collaboration and communication skills. 2. Ability to manage a caseload and meet required timelines. 3. Strong documentation and organizational skills. 4. Ability to demonstrate speech and language therapy activities. 5. Ability to work with students across a variety of classroom and therapy environments. SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program. 2. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-LanguageHearing Association (ASHA), or eligibility to obtain. 3. Eligibility for Pennsylvania Department of Education Special Educational- Speech and Language Impaired PK-12 certification. 4. Experience working with school-age children preferred. 5. Experience in school-based or educational settings preferred. 6. Knowledge of special education procedures and IEP processes preferred. 7. Evaluate and recommend augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems when appropriate. 8. Train staff and students in the use of communication devices or supports. 9. Provide recommendations for classroom communication accommodations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Conduct speech and language evaluations for students referred for services. 2. Assess articulation, phonology, expressive and receptive language, pragmatics (social communication), voice, and fluency. 3. Administer standardized and informal assessments related to educational communication needs. 4. Prepare written evaluation reports and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings. 5. Develop measurable speech and language goals aligned with student educational needs. 6. Provide direct and consultative therapy services as specified in the student’s IEP. 7. Provide therapy to support articulation, expressive and receptive language, social communication, fluency, and voice. 8. Collaborate with teachers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, school psychologists, and administrators. 9. Provide classroom strategies and supports to promote communication development. 10. Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding student progress. 11. Maintain accurate service logs, progress notes, and documentation required for compliance. 12. Other duties as assigned.
