Requirements

• Knowledge of speech and language pathology, assessing needs and the range of effective potential treatment options.
• Knowledge of state and local laws and CFSD rules and regulations regarding speech and language assessment and treatment of students.
• Knowledge of universal precautions required when exposed to blood, mucus, saliva, urine, and bowel movements.
• Skill in assessing speech and language needs and developing and implementing treatment plans.
• Skill in using specialized equipment such as auditory trainers, audiometer and adaptive hardware and software.
• Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, administrators, students, parents and medical professionals.
• Must have an Arizona Speech-Language Pathologist (PreK-12) certificate at the time of hire
• Valid Arizona Driver's License and clear diving record.
• Valid Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Card

Responsibilities

• Develop speech, language, feeding and swallowing therapy plans and deliver therapy to students in group and individual sessions.
• Evaluate and screen students for specific speech, language, feeding and swallowing impairments.
• Meet with parents and teacher and gather information about student abilities and concerns.
• Document evaluations, screenings and treatments and write case reports and summaries.
• Tailor teaching materials for each student's treatment plans.
• Physically assist and/or position multiply challenged students, increase fine motor control and maximize effectiveness of therapy sessions.
• May train Educational Assistant, Special Education Teachers and regular Teachers in assisting with speech and language development of assigned students.
