About The Position

Emplify Health by Gundersen has an available opportunity for a new graduate with a Master’s degree in Communicative Disorders to join our team to complete your Clinical Fellowship Year (13 months) working with pediatric and adult patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings . Based on need, you will work at two of the following locations: Gundersen Moundview Hospital (Friendship, WI), Gundersen St. Joseph's Hospital (Hillsboro, WI), and Gundersen Hospital (La Crosse, WI). You must be willing to commute/travel between two of the three locations which will be determined prior to your acceptance of the position. As a Speech and Language Pathologist Fellow (SLPF) you will evaluate and assess adult and pediatric individuals who have medical problems or other health related conditions impacting language, motor speech, cognition, right hemisphere dysfunction, basic voice, and dysphagia. In coordination with the referring provider and other clinical staff, you will develop a plan of care and provide treatment techniques and interventions to restore and improve function in alignment with relevant state Speech and Language Pathology Practice Standards. The SLPF will be mentored by an individual holding American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certification in Speech and Language Pathology and will adhere to the Clinical Fellowship standards set by ASHA. During your Clinical Fellowship Year, you will gain competency with tests/protocols for language impairment, motor speech disorders, cognitive impairment, right hemisphere dysfunction, basic voice disorders, and dysphagia. You will be provided with frequent onsite supervision from your supervisor and have access to a large department of Speech Pathologists at the Gundersen La Crosse location. Fulltime, 80 hours biweekly (1.0 FTE) Monday – Friday day shifts , with the possibility of working occasional Saturdays and one holiday Evaluate and treat acute patients, swing bed unit, and outpatient adult and pediatric patients at Gundersen Moundview Hospital (Friendship, WI), Gundersen St. Joseph's Hospital (Hillsboro, WI), and/or Gundersen Hospital (La Crosse, WI). Commute/travel is required Limited to a term of 13 months for Clinical Fellowship Year. Ongoing employment after completion of the Clinical Fellowship will be a consideration if program growth/patient needs support such, but is not guaranteed

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Communicative Disorders
  • Speech-Language Pathologist Wisconsin Temporary License (SPEECH PTH)
  • Skilled in serving patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury, and other neurogenic diseases/disorders is required
  • Commute/travel is required
  • Limited to a term of 13 months for Clinical Fellowship Year.

  • Prior pediatric experience preferred
