The position involves collaborating with students, parents, and other staff members to develop Individual Education Plans (IEP) through the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process for each assigned student. The role requires implementing instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs for students, ensuring that all preparations are documented as required. The educator will plan and utilize appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of the students. Additionally, the position entails working cooperatively with classroom teachers to modify curricula as necessary and assisting special education students in regular classes with their assignments. Regular participation in ARD Committee meetings is expected, along with sharing the responsibility of interpreting educational programs to the community through activities such as open houses and PTA meetings. The educator will consult with classroom teachers regarding student behavior management according to IEP guidelines and present subject matter accordingly. Ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing will be conducted, and all reports, records, and required documents must be compiled and maintained. Creating a conducive classroom environment for learning and managing student behavior, including crisis intervention and physical restraint when necessary, is also part of the role. Compliance with federal, state, district, and school regulations and policies for special education teachers is mandatory, and regular attendance at the worksite is required.
