About The Position

The position involves collaborating with students, parents, and staff to develop Individual Education Plans (IEP) through the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process for each assigned student. The role requires implementing instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs for students, ensuring that preparation is documented as required. The educator will plan and utilize appropriate instructional strategies, materials, and equipment that cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of students. Additionally, the position entails working cooperatively with classroom teachers to modify curricula and assist special education students in regular classes. Participation in ARD Committee meetings is essential, along with sharing responsibilities for interpreting educational programs to the community through events like open houses and PTA meetings. The educator will also consult with teachers regarding student behavior management according to IEP guidelines, conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement, and maintain necessary documentation. Creating a conducive classroom environment and managing student behavior, including crisis intervention, are critical aspects of the role. Compliance with federal, state, district, and school regulations for special education teachers is mandatory, and regular attendance at the worksite is required.
