SPED Instructional Assistant/SPED Personal Care RN Location: James P. Lee Early Childhood Learning Center, SUN Kids Preschool 4 hrs/day, 12:15pm - 4:15pm, Monday - Thursday Salary: $32.23/hour Start Date: immediately Purpose Statement The Personal Care Register Nurse is responsible for the care of an individual student (the exact needs of the student will be discussed in the interview). They are required to hold a valid RN license and will work with the Special Education Department to ensure all IEP requirements are followed. Essential Functions Assist in the care of the student in accordance with the student's care plan. Maintains information about the health and developmental status of students. Supports nursing care plans with specific goals and interventions delineating school nursing action unique to student’s needs. Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment. Documents nursing care via computer program. Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g., staff, district, IEPs, 504’s, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering medical and health-related data/information required to perform functions related to student. Reports student/school health and safety status to assigned administrator and appropriate agencies (e.g., fights, suspected child or substance abuse, inappropriate social behaviors, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining student personal safety, a positive learning environment and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines. Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel/agency for resolution. Maintains current knowledge in the area of specialization. Supports goals and objective of the school and district.
