About The Position

Triumph Public High Schools is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and passionate individual to work as a Special Education Aide at our El Paso West Campus. This role is crucial in helping at-risk high school students succeed in a professional, growth-oriented environment. The Special Education Aide will assist the teacher in meeting the individualized needs of students with disabilities in the least restrictive educational setting appropriate to the student. Responsibilities include implementing classroom programs, assisting in self-help, behavior management, and instructional programs, and working under the general supervision of the Principal and immediate direction of a certified special education teacher. This position may require occasional work on Saturdays, over the summer, and some travel within the state of Texas.

Requirements

  • Must have completed two years of study at an institution of higher education or hold an Associate of Arts (or higher) degree.
  • Two years of study is defined as having completed 48 hours or more college credit hours at an accredited junior college or university.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English required.
  • Required to pass a pre-employment fingerprinting as part of the background check.
  • Required to submit original college transcripts, service records and credentials within the first 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer individuals with the ability to assist in instructing in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Previous experience working with students with special needs is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the teacher in meeting the individualized needs of students with disabilities.

  • Perform other duties as required and that are within capabilities.
