Responsible for investigating and resolving issues that arise during the test entry portion (pre-analytical phase) of processing specimens. Issues are received, tracked and addressed immediately so that processing of specimens with issues can occur in a timely manner.

  • Investigating/resolving pre-analytical specimen issues identified by Laboratory Specimen Processors or Lab staff.
  • Document and ensure all information is properly routed to Specimen Resolution Office Staff.
  • Inventory Control of all specimens placed on Hold Testing.
  • Ensure that each issue identified is handled/resolved in accordance with the current SOP.
  • Processes all finalized resolutions received from Specimen Resolution Office Staff in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all specimens that receive final resolution are accessioned, aliquoted and prepared for testing through appropriate channels (i.e., Hamilton and Olympus).
  • Remains aware of evolving business needs and opportunities, showing flexibility in doing whatever is appropriate to support the company’s success.
  • Pursues educational opportunities to maintain advanced and up-to-date knowledge of HIPAA, safety, SOP and all other issues related to the Specimen Resolution Lab Team.
  • Exercises influence and takes collaborative action to proactively coordinate efforts between other departments.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in the face of adverse conditions to effectively resolve specimen issues.
  • Able to prioritize workload and exhibit a sense of urgency when approaching deadlines.
  • Ensures best utilization of resources and effective achievement of results by 'bringing together' everyone’s contribution to the achievement of the department and company goals.
  • Establishes strong organizational skills in order to function effectively in a fast-paced environment utilizing teamwork, integrity and accountability.
  • Knowledge of developing a working partnership with upper management as well as cross department management teams.
  • Performs all other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Associate degree preferred; combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • High School Diploma or GED minimum requirement.
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory required.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Strong attention to detail a must.
  • Strong problem solving capabilities.
  • Time management skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Experience in SOP or Policy adherence to meet the needs of the business and satisfy state and federal regulations.
  • Strong email communication a must.
