About The Position

Under the direction of department leadership, perform clerical and technical lab duties with precision and efficiency. Exceed customer expectations by providing high-quality service. Take initiative within the scope of the role and strive to improve work processes based on laboratory and client needs. Understand the importance of daily tasks and their impact on patients and providers in delivering lifesaving diagnostic services.

Requirements

  • Experience in laboratory, specimen processing, and sample handling.
  • Phlebotomy certification or experience in specimen collection and labeling.
  • Skills in accessioning, packaging, and sample handling.
  • High School diploma with 6+ months of production or healthcare experience, or
  • Associate's degree in life science with retail/serving/fast-paced experience, or
  • Bachelor's degree in a science-related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy, processing, or healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and comply with all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Support leadership during audits as needed.
  • Ship, receive, and track packages and specimens while maintaining sample integrity.
  • Receive, classify, and process specimens accurately and promptly.
  • Inspect specimens and paperwork for accuracy and acceptability.
  • Maintain sample identity and store samples at appropriate temperatures.
  • Accurately perform data entry functions using appropriate systems.
  • Proofread work for content, spelling, accuracy, and format.
  • Prepare samples for laboratory testing as required.
  • Perform reagent preparation and routine equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • Identify and document sample issues or discrepancies and resolve them with clients.
  • Respond to telephone calls and email requests professionally.
  • Research and resolve customer issues promptly.
  • Provide exemplary customer service using written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain organization of departmental records.
  • Support the maintenance of reagent and supply inventory.
  • Work weekend and holiday rotations as scheduled.
  • Train others on job tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain all competencies and continuing education credits.
  • Perform duties in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
