About The Position

Specimen Processors collect, organize, and route lab samples; enter and share results; answer phones, handle paperwork, help train staff, and complete routine office duties.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent Required.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, in person and by phone

Nice To Haves

3–6 months experience in a clinical or medical setting preferred
3–6 months customer service or call center experience preferred

Responsibilities

Provide courteous, respectful service; show initiative and assist with departmental needs
Monitor pneumatic tube and courier deliveries for timely specimen processing
Receive, sort, prioritize, and distribute specimens per lab policy
Verify specimens and requisitions for accuracy; resolve errors and document issues
Centrifuge, label, aliquot, and store specimens according to policy
Enter specimen receipt times and requests into the laboratory information system
Answer phone inquiries regarding specimen collection, results, and reference ranges
Prepare, package, and send specimens to outside laboratories as needed
Follow all health and safety regulations for handling biohazardous materials
Notify supervisors of issues requiring clarification or credit
Disinfect work areas during and after shifts
Assist with training and orientation of new staff
Perform routine technical and clerical duties as assigned
