About The Position

The Specimen Processor is responsible for performing laboratory specimen receiving, processing, and distribution functions. This includes preparing, packaging, and shipping Category A/B lab specimens to approved reference labs. The role also involves overseeing some specimen collection directions according to laboratory guidelines, performing patient data order entry, and distributing results to maintain efficient and productive operations of the laboratory. Additionally, the Specimen Processor provides customer service support to phlebotomists, technical staff, and laboratory clients.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Computer experience required.
• Working knowledge of handling blood/body fluid and other laboratory specimens preferred, in accordance with infection control guidelines.
• Knowledge of specimen processing, phlebotomy, or a background in science or equivalent aptitude preferred.
• Valid Driver's License with a good driving record to meet criteria to drive FirstHealth vehicle.
