About The Position

Labcorp is a global leader in diagnostic testing and drug development solutions, dedicated to helping healthcare providers, researchers, and patients make informed decisions that advance care. The company is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join their team in Charlotte, NC. This role is crucial for improving health and lives by ensuring the accuracy of millions of healthcare tests every month. The Specimen Processor I, also referred to as a Specimen Accessioner, will be responsible for performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures. Key duties include preparing, unpacking, routing, identifying, labeling, packing, and shipping laboratory specimens, as well as managing excess samples and resolving problem specimens. The position requires an organized and accountable individual with a high level of attention to detail.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Experience with MS Office
  • Able to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Able to pass a standardized colorblindness test

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year or more experience in lab, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse

Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
  • Accurately identify and label specimens
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
  • Meet department activity and production goals
  • Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
  • Resolve and document any problem specimens
  • Performing clinical specimen accessioning
  • Sample sorting
  • Data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures
