About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor II to join their team in New York, NY. This position, also referred to as Specimen Processing Specialist, involves preparing laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, communicating with client office staff, and resolving customer and specimen problems. The role requires meeting department activity and production goals, accurate data entry of patient information, identifying and labeling specimens, and packing/shipping them to testing facilities. The specialist will also scrub requisitions, perform spinning/freezing/splitting, and other special services as needed. This is an onsite, fast-paced, high-throughput environment located within one of Labcorp's client offices, focusing on clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry. The ideal candidate is organized, accountable, and detail-oriented, with a passion for strengthening physician care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 or more years of relative experience required (lab/accessioning, production/manufacturing/warehouse environment)
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Communicate effectively with client office staff
  • Research, troubleshoot and resolve customer and specimen problems
  • Meet department activity and production goals
  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
  • Accurately identify and label specimens
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
  • Scrub requisitions to ensure samples are prepared and missing items are updated
  • Do spinning/freezing/splitting and other special services as needed based on client
  • Performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry
