About The Position

Bring your laboratory experience to UW Health. We are seeking a Specimen Control and Receiving Tech - Clinical Labs to: Receive specimens and research kits into the laboratory, check for correct labeling, enter tests into Laboratory Information System, process specimens, and load them onto instruments or direct to appropriate work station, technologist, or storage area. Basic instrument maintenance (temperatures, monitoring reagents) and clerical duties (filing, mailing, faxing). Interact daily with pathologists, physicians, technologists, clinical staff, nursing unit personnel, and patients. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • 6 months experience in lab, healthcare, customer service or data entry role Required

Nice To Haves

  • Some post-secondary education in a healthcare or a related science field that may include course work in Medical Laboratory Technician, Cytotechnologist, Histotechnician or Medical Laboratory Scientist degree/certification Preferred
  • 1 year healthcare or lab related work experience Preferred
  • Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent Preferred
