About The Position
LabCorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join their Specimen Accessioning team in Research Triangle Park, NC. The Specimen Accessioner will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of millions of healthcare tests conducted each month. This position requires a high level of organization and accountability, as the individual will be responsible for performing specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures. The schedule for this position will be a first shift, Tuesday to Saturday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. In this role, the Specimen Accessioner will introduce and prepare biological specimens for the laboratory to ensure accurate processing. This includes opening specimens and pouring them into secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing. The individual will verify that patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted and will be responsible for data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes. Meeting key production metrics and quality measures is essential to ensure timely and accurate results. Additional responsibilities include unpacking and routing specimens to their respective staging areas, packing and shipping specimens to proper testing facilities when required, and properly preparing and storing excess specimen samples. The Specimen Accessioner will also resolve and document any problem specimens, handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste, and comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures. Operating automated instrumentation under supervision may also be required.
