About The Position

The Specialty Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the Specialty team within the Beer, Wine, Cheese & Chocolate department at Whole Foods Market. The position emphasizes customer service, team development, and adherence to company standards and values.

Requirements

• 24+ months of retail experience including 12+ months of team leadership experience.
• Advanced knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management.
• Food safety certification or commitment to complete certification within 6 months.
• Excellent interpersonal, motivational, and team building skills.
• Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance and managing inventory.
• Demonstrated decision-making ability and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
• Knowledge of competitors and industry trends.

Responsibilities

• Provides overall leadership to the Specialty team.
• Responsible for daily operations including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, and labor management.
• Leads and develops Associate Team Leaders and Team Members.
• Accountable for hiring, development, corrective actions, and separations of Team Members.
• Ensures a positive company image by providing courteous and efficient service to customers and Team Members.
• Monitors and achieves sales, margin, expense, and labor targets.
• Maintains proper product assortment, merchandising, and inventory control.
• Ensures compliance with health and safety regulations and food safety standards.
• Fosters a positive environment of teamwork and mutual respect.
