Requirements

• Must have certs to be hired:
• cpr or bls
• must have registered dental assistant license or OMSA cert
• must have specialty experience

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operatory/surgical suite: ensure instruments, supplies, equipment, and the environment are ready for surgery (including sedation/IV cases).
• Assist the surgeon during procedures: passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, monitoring patient status (vital signs, comfort), supporting sedation/IV anesthesia when applicable.
• Sterilization and instrument maintenance: clean, sterilize, package, track inventory of surgical instruments and equipment according to infection control standards (OSHA, CDC, state) and the office protocols.
• Patient preparation and recovery: greet & comfort patients, review medical history, prepare monitoring equipment, assist in recovery/monitoring after surgery, ensure proper post-op instructions are communicated.
• Radiography and imaging assistance: obtain x-rays, scans (panoramic, CBCT) as required by practice and state licensure.
• Charting/documentation: record procedures, assist with pre-operative checklists, time-outs, and post-op summaries; maintain accurate patient records (EMR/tracking systems).
• Supply/inventory management: restock trays, surgical supplies, medications, and ensure readiness of the surgical team.
• Compliance & safety: adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, state Dental Board rules, maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Occasionally assist with consults, post-operative calls, patient education, and support other duties as assigned.
