About The Position

The Specialty Product Engineer is a key technical resource supporting the manufacture of Value Added Products across North America. Value added products includes Large Grain, Co-Crystallized, Specialty Liquids and other high value products across ASR NA manufacturing facilities. This role is responsible for driving performance improvements in throughput, yield, quality, and operational efficiency through the application of sound engineering principles, scientific analysis, and data-driven decision making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from a 4-year college or university in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or similar field required.
  • 3+ years of process engineering experience in a manufacturing or refining environment; food, chemical, or sugar processing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements that increase throughput, yield, and quality.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple sites and functional teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of time between facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and process engineering expertise to the Co-Crystallized, Large Grain, Specialty Liquids and other Value Added product facilities at the Chalmette, Crockett, Baltimore and Toronto manufacturing locations.
  • Deliver improvements in Throughput: Monitoring and improving both instantaneous throughput and percentage uptime.
  • Yield: Maximizing product yield while minimizing losses and waste generation.
  • Quality: Improving right-first-time performance and ensuring consistent product quality.
  • Analyze plant data to identify process bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement process changes or equipment modifications to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance product consistency.
  • Collaborate closely with site operations, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure alignment of technical initiatives with production goals.
  • Lead or support root-cause analyses for process upsets and drive corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for site leadership and senior operations and supply chain leadership.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between the sites, sharing best practices and facilitating knowledge transfer.
  • Support capital project development and execution where process improvements require equipment or infrastructure upgrades.
  • Travel approximately 50% of the time between the North American facilities to provide on-site support and ensure consistent implementation of initiatives.
