About The Position

Cardinal Health's Retail & Specialty Pharmacy operations are responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective coordination of pharmacy services for acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices, and retail customers. This includes ensuring the correct and safe dispensing of prescription medications to the general public, adhering to legal, ethical, and professional guidelines, and potentially consulting with patients and physicians. Cardinal Health is seeking a highly motivated pharmacy technician for a hospital-based outpatient specialty pharmacy. This role is crucial in delivering medication and pharmaceutical care to patients, fostering strong relationships within the community, and supporting pharmacists in the accurate preparation and delivery of prescriptions.

Requirements

  • Tennessee pharmacy technician license required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets.
  • May require vendor credentialing.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • National pharmacy technician certification (PTCB) preferred.
  • Specialty pharmacy experience preferred.
  • 2+ years with retail pharmacy technician related experience preferred.
  • 340B understanding and experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain professional working relationships at all times, with the pharmacy personnel, physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel.
  • Understand that the requirements of working in a pharmacy are varied and may change as demands on the department change.
  • Be available to the customer/patients at all times.
  • Maintain friendly and helpful attitude at all times when dealing with customers.
  • Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by profiling prescriptions, preparing labels and calculating quantities.
  • Ensures medication availability by delivering medications to patients and ordering when needed.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Works with pharmacy team to ensure best practices are being followed with regards to 340B.
  • Other duties as assigned.
