The Specialty Pharmacy Technician will assist in various pharmacy activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your responsibilities will include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications; performing order entry; procuring drugs; billing. You will carry out your job duties according to written procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements. Pharmacy Location: Located within Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Medical Plaza Retail Pharmacy, 1701 Oak Park Blvd., Lake Charles, LA 70601 Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm no weekends You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Active Louisiana state Pharmacy Technician license in good standing
  • Recent work experience as a Pharmacy Technician, ideally in retail and/or outpatient setting
  • Excellent customer service skills including effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
  • Process prescription orders accurately, including entering patient and prescription data into pharmacy systems
  • Assist pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency
  • Process medication orders from electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) with accuracy and urgency
  • Maintain medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates
  • Support medication safety initiatives, including double-checks, labeling, and documentation
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure timely and safe medication delivery
  • Comply with hospital policies and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and state/federal regulations
