As part of the Outpatient Ambulatory Pharmacy, we work in collaboration with other UVA pharmacies to provide best in class service to our patients! We are a closed door pharmacy, but that does not preclude us from offering excellent customer service while providing medications mailed to patient home, a clinical management program for patients on specialty medications, and prior authorization assistance by our medication access team! Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • 6 months minimum relevant experience required
  • Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required
  • CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and sends medications to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Demonstrates the ability to competently work in different general and specialized areas of pharmacy practice.
  • Participates in the training of new employees.
  • Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
  • Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
  • Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician scope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed.
  • Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient information.
  • Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
  • Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
