Under the direction of the Wellness Director/Coordinator and consistent with the mission of the YMCA of the Suncoast, the specialty instructor is responsible for instructing safe, effective and fun group exercise, as well as, enhancing the quality and growth of the program and retention of the participants of the group fitness programs. Research shows that some candidates apply only if they meet all of the job criteria. If you have passion and intelligence, even if you are missing some of the below requirements, we encourage you to apply to further discuss your skill set. Must be at least 16 years old. Must demonstrate the ability to teach a safe, effective and fun group exercise class that meets all necessary components and follows all guidelines in accordance with YMCA of the USA accepted practices of exercise physiology. Specialty instructors must have a valid certification with a minimum of 80 hours of training and /or teaching experience within their field or be certified by YMCA standards. Upon hire, must complete Intro to the Ys Cause & Culture, Y's Way to Service & Engagement, and I Hear You: Service with CARE. Within 90 days of hire, CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required. Within 90 days of hire, Foundations of Listen First, Orientation to Healthy Living, Principles of Member Health and Wellness, Wellness Center at the Y or Group Exercise at the Y trainings required. Get SMART preferred.
