About The Position

The Specialty Gas Gravimetric Blender position at Airgas in Plumsteadville, PA, is a full-time role focused on the filling of specialty products into compressed and liquefied gas cylinders. The Plant Operator 5 is responsible for ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local regulations while adhering to Airgas safety standards. This role requires the operator to remain productive during their work shift and support the product quality standards established by the company. The operator must possess a thorough understanding of the pure gas filling process, gravimetric blending, dynamic blending, partial pressure blending, and product purification techniques. Additionally, troubleshooting production issues is a key responsibility, along with regular inspections of cylinder fill equipment and performing minor maintenance tasks. The operator will perform pre-fill and post-fill inspections on cylinders and trailers, which includes scraping, labeling, and painting of cylinders. The role involves moving cylinders using a cylinder cart or forklift, performing routine calibration on production and analytical equipment, and accurately completing daily fill sheets and cylinder filling records. The operator will also be responsible for the operation of various pumps and compressors, offloading cryogenic materials, and managing production planning and prioritization. Mathematical calculations are essential for this position, and maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work area is a must. Other duties or projects may be assigned as needed. To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities. The position requires an associate's degree in chemistry or a related science, or a minimum of three years of relevant experience. Candidates should be able to read and comprehend Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and coordinate efforts with multiple departments. High precision work aptitude, teamwork, and reliability are crucial for meeting the facility's goals. Forklift operation and certification are also required, along with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. The role demands the ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and the flexibility to work all shifts under various weather conditions.
