About The Position

Leidos Health and Services Group currently has an opening for a Specialty Consultant to work remotely. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Military OneSource mission. The Military OneSource Program provides 24/7 support services for military members and their families, similar to a commercial Employee Assistance Program (EAP). This program provides a broad array of information, resources, education, referrals, and counseling to about 4.7 million participants which includes military service members, their families, and eligible civilians at locations worldwide. The Military OneSource program serves as a “one source” for resource and information encompassing a comprehensive support system. The Specialty Consultant specializes in providing information and referrals related to specialized programs that directly impact the lives of military members and their families. This role delivers personalized, tailored assistance and referral services to program participants. They provide expert consultation across core service areas that support Service members and their families in living their best Military life. Consultation areas include special needs and the Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP); support for transitioning Veterans; relocation and transition services; building healthy partner and family relationships; new parent assistance and education; and peer-to-peer support for both Service members and spouses. Consultants may also support the Wounded Service member Program based on qualifications and experience. Candidates must possess strong customer service skills, knowledge of call center operations, and an understanding of military life, while maintaining the highest degree of confidentiality, sensitivity, compassion, and respect for Service members and their families. Some evening and weekend appointments may be required to meet the needs of the military community.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited graduate program in a behavioral health-related field such as Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Counseling. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in a related discipline plus at least four years of appropriate experience demonstrating acquired knowledge equivalent to a behavioral or social sciences major.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more specialty areas, preferably supporting the military community, including adoption, adult disability care, education, elder care, health and wellness coaching, peer-to-peer support, special needs, wounded service members, or spouse relocation and transition services.
  • Strong customer service skills and demonstrated knowledge of call center operations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of military lifestyle and culture, with the ability to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, sensitivity, compassion, and professionalism.
  • Ability to use telephonic and secure video-based platforms to deliver consultation services.
  • Strong assessment, crisis management, and referral coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel, as well as web-based research and electronic documentation systems.
  • U.S. citizenship and fluency in English required.
  • Ability to successfully pass criminal history, fingerprint background checks, and credential verification required.
  • Ability to maintain and retain suitability investigation and clearance as required.
  • Military spouse, veteran, or current National Guard or Reserve member required for certain specialty programs, such as peer-to-peer consultation.
  • Proficient in navigating electronic systems, computer programs, and virtual service platforms.
  • This position requires a separate, quiet, private, confidential space to work from, as well as having access to your own reliable high-speed internet hard wired to your home (coax or fiber from the Internet Service Provider (ISP) to your home.) Using a hot spot from a mobile device (tethering) or wireless ISP is not acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized consultation, psychoeducation, and referral services related to programs that support military members and their families.
  • Deliver personalized, tailored assistance across designated specialty areas based on experience, education, and program assignment.
  • Provide virtual and telephonic consultation services using secure platforms to meet contractual performance requirements.
  • Assess participant needs, navigate appropriate resources, and resolve complex concerns in alignment with program guidelines.
  • Identify high-risk situations, de-escalate with professionalism, and initiate appropriate referrals and follow-up actions.
  • Document all participant interactions, services provided, follow-up activities, and case closures accurately within the designated case management system.
  • Conduct follow-up contacts and required reporting in accordance with program and contractual standards.
  • Research and provide vetted referrals, informational materials, and additional resources to participants.
  • Maintain internal and contractual training and certification requirements.
  • Support additional specialty programs, including the Wounded Service members, as qualified.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned based on business needs.
