About The Position

The position involves receiving direction from the Operating Room Manager, Supervisor, Specialty Team Leader, and staff Registered Nurse. The individual will work cooperatively with the surgeon, PAs/NPs, residents, fellows, and other allied health staff. The primary role is to perform delegated activities to assist in the care of patients in the operating room/procedure rooms. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and in collaboration with the surgeon, the technologist will function primarily in the scrub role. Additionally, the role includes collaborating on developing best practice protocols and workflows for new procedures and transplants.

Requirements

• Experience in an operating room environment.
• Knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical procedures.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call expectations.

Nice To Haves

• Certification in surgical technology or related field.
• Experience with cardiothoracic and transplant procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the care of patients in the operating room/procedure rooms.
• Function primarily in the scrub role under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Collaborate on developing best practice protocols and workflows for new procedures and transplants.
• Select, prepare, and maintain specific cardiac instrumentation, equipment, and supplies.
• Provide a safe, efficient environment for the surgical patient.
• Apply and enforce principles of sterile technique, including solution preparation and patient draping.
• Demonstrate preparedness to handle emergencies, including quick thinking and adaptability.
