About The Position

The candidate will work with the Specialty Analytics department within the Enterprise Risk Management team to support all divisions of C&F with identifying, quantifying and managing their risks. The role will be responsible for continued development of ERM frameworks, including aggregation management, underwriting audits, and exception reporting, to ensure a consistent and thoughtful approach to risk vs. reward across the almost $6 billion of annual gross written premium at C&F.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management/Insurance, Mathematics, Finance or related field or equivalent experiences
  • 6+ years of commercial insurance experience required
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Highly proficient in Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Some underwriting experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of SQL desired, but not necessary

Responsibilities

  • Identify, quantify, and manage risks to the organization; engage with a variety of specialist teams and senior leadership to develop and implement risk management strategies
  • Form partnerships and collaborate with business units to help develop and implement risk management frameworks and controls
  • Build out exception reporting capabilities, including automating where possible; Validate new exception reports as more are developed
  • Support underwriting audit functions throughout the group
  • Assist in setting corporate tolerances around aggregations of exposures; monitor reporting of these metrics to ensure corporate tolerances are not breached
  • Develop knowledge of C&F’s various business units and products
  • Keep up to date with developing trends and emerging risks; evaluate the potential impact of these risks to the organization
