About The Position

Join our Omaha team as a Specialized Parole Officer (SPO) and directly impact others. As a SPO with Community Supervision Services (CSS), you'll play a crucial role in facilitating the successful re-entry of clients back into the community. This involves providing supervision to individuals on parole, utilizing innovative case management, and helping them become productive and responsible citizens. Daily travel around Omaha and its surrounding communities will be a regular part of your role, as dictated by your caseload. Additional $3/hour facility differential for hours worked. Training conducted at the Staff Training Academy, 2320 N 57th St, Lincoln NE; Lincoln Regional Office, 421 South 9th St, Lincoln, NE; or conducted remotely. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in corrections, criminal justice, sociology, psychology, social work, counseling, public administration or a related field.
  • Experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • This position requires travel. Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Regular and reliable attendance required.
  • Applicant accepting a job offer must pass the following exams in this order: medical exam and, at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test.
  • Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, behavioral science, human services, or related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to adapt to various situations.
  • Experience working with individuals in the criminal justice system, community resources, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a caseload of parolees and adult sex offenders, including conducting risk assessments, home visits, and developing case plans.
  • Facilitate offender rehabilitation through counseling, cognitive-behavioral classes, and coordinating community reintegration.
  • Enforce supervision conditions by conducting investigations, searches, drug tests, and making arrests when necessary.
  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including law enforcement, mental health professionals, and treatment providers.
  • Maintain comprehensive case documentation and provide testimony in court or at Parole Board Hearings.
  • Cover an assigned territory with required travel and coordinate supervision during evenings and weekends as scheduled.
