About The Position

A specialized paraprofessional assists the classroom teacher in providing a safe learning environment where children’s individual needs are met.

Requirements

  • Education – High School Diploma (minimum), 60 college credits/Associate’s Degree/ability to pass the ParaPro Assessment
  • Experience – Evidence of experience working with students
  • Hepatitis B Vaccine (paid for by school)
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention training (paid for by school)

Responsibilities

  • Implements IEP and Behavior Plan under the supervision of the teacher.
  • Assists the teacher with the learning activities of students in both group and 1-on-1 settings.
  • Assists students with health and self-help needs, including but not limited to, feeding, toileting, positioning, and dressing. This may require operating specialized equipment.
  • Assists students in developing social and emotional skills.
  • Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, recess, field trips, specials, and general education.
  • Participates in general and job specific training as determined by the supervising teacher and principal.
  • Supervises students in instructional activities at the direction of the teacher, including Math, English, fine motor skills, and handwriting.
  • Communicates with the supervising teacher on student progress and/or special needs of students.
  • Assists teacher with recording student progress data.
  • Assists with bus duty in the mornings and afternoons, helping load and unload students.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintains confidentiality as defined within the policy and procedure manual.
