About The Position

Specialized Instructor/Home-Based Teacher Hiring Immediately for Growing Program! The Arc of Chester County is an innovative non-profit organization with strong ties to our community. As a Specialized Instructor, you can work with children and their families in their home setting. The children range in age from birth - 3. SUMMARY: All employees at The Arc of Chester County are expected to embrace and exemplify our Mission, Vision, and Core Values. The Specialized Instructor is responsible for the development and implementation of an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) for children who are primarily 0 to 3.0 years of age, on their assigned case load. This employee is a member of a transdisciplinary team and is responsible for communicating with other team members, including the child's family. All services must adhere to family guided routines-based intervention model.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early intervention, early childhood special education, early childhood education, child development, special education or family studies, and 1 year of full-time or full-time-equivalent experience working directly with preschool children with disabilities and their families or a university-supervised or college-supervised student practicum or teaching experience with preschool children with disabilities and their families.
  • OR A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university which includes 15 credit hours in early intervention, early childhood special education, early childhood education, child development, special education or family studies; and 1 year of full-time or full-time-equivalent experience working directly with preschool children with disabilities and their families; and demonstrated knowledge, understanding and skills needed to perform the functions specified in §  4226.54 (relating to early interventionist responsibilities).
  • Extensive knowledge of infant/toddler development.
  • Flexibility in regard to working schedule.
  • Must have own transportation/vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Participate, collaborate and/or implement The Arc of Chester County’s 5-year Strategic Plan.
  • Complete all training and qualifications requirements.
  • Assess each child in the following areas of development: Social/Emotional, Gross Motor, Fine Motor, Language, Self Help and Cognition, through examination of records, job observations, discussions with parents and/or primary care giver and developmentally appropriate assessment tools.
  • Collaborate with IFSP/IEP team members regarding child/family goals/outcomes and intervention plan.
  • Function as an active member of IFSP team and communicate effectively with others on the team to ensure high quality of services.
  • Maintain confidentiality per agency policies.
  • Plan and implement visits with children and their families to incorporate activities and techniques that will assist children in achieving developmental objectives. The schedule of these appointments and any changes are to be kept at the central administrative office. Schedule may be posted online.
  • Provide families and primary caregivers with training and consultation regarding child and family goals/outcomes, priorities and needs using family guided routines-based intervention model.
  • Maintain, complete, and submit in accordance with timelines/deadlines required paperwork, that includes child-related reports, session summary sheets, as required by the agency, and funding agents.
  • Communicate ideas, concerns, and needs to designated supervisor or other administrative team members.
  • Participate in transition processes: home programming to other programs, classroom programming or out of direct services.
  • Participate in Arc sponsored events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
