About The Position

The Specialized ABI Program Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned CRC home(s). This role includes managing all assigned staff, developing and implementing Individualized Service Plans (ISPs), coordinating medical services, and providing direct care and supervision. The Program Director ensures that all activities align with our mission and comply with the Charles River Policies and Procedures Manual.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of state and agency-mandated training: First Aid/CPR (within first month of employment), DDS Medication Administration Certificate (within first six months), Safety Care/Legal Certificate (within first six months), DPPC/Fire Safety/Human Rights/Universal Precautions Certificate (upon hire), New Hire Orientation, including completion of CORE Curriculum (within first three months)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must consent to a Criminal History Background Check (CORI) and release of information from agencies such as the Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC) and Department of Developmental Services (DDS).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able to perform essential duties with reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be fluent in English, with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret written communication.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and professional documentation.
  • Strong reasoning skills, with the ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and adapt to changing demands.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of staff supervision is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Positive Behavioral Supports is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and review ISPs while responding to the needs, desires, and interests of individuals.
  • Provide and oversee direct care and instruction in personal care, adaptive equipment, education, social skills, meal preparation, community inclusion, and more.
  • Implement and oversee behavioral support programs, including Positive Behavioral Supports with the assistance of assigned clinical staff.
  • Ensure healthcare needs are met through the coordination of medical/clinical appointments and all necessary follow up with the assistance of assigned nursing staff.
  • Assist with financial needs and benefits such as SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, and Medicare as needed.
  • Act as a resource for individuals, families, referral agencies, and residential staff, ensuring smooth coordination of services.
  • Support the development and monitoring of program goals, evaluating service effectiveness and resource allocation.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, and supervise staff members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations per agency policies.
  • Organize staff schedules, meal plans, activities/chores and other daily operations to ensure adequate staffing coverage.
  • Lead regular staff meetings, sharing updates and addressing concerns per agency policies.
  • Provide on-call emergency support on a rotational basis.
  • Maintain all required documentation, including logs, trainings, progress notes, service agreements, and reports per agency policies.
  • Ensure a safe and well-maintained home environment, performing housekeeping tasks as necessary.
  • Coordinate social, leisure, educational, and developmental activities for individuals.
  • Advocate for individuals’ human and legal rights.
  • Oversee meal planning and preparation, ensuring nutritional balance.
  • Maintain open communication with service providers, families, guardians, and community members.
  • Ensure compliance with the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and other regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in all assigned internal qualitative and DDS OQE licensing reviews and implement necessary corrective actions.
  • Attend and facilitate training sessions, keeping up with industry standards and best practices.
