About The Position

The Transition and Career Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality Pre- Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to high school and college students, as well as career development services to adults who are blind or visually impaired. This role combines curriculum delivery, assistive technology support, student engagement, and coordination and recruitment efforts with schools, Vocational Rehab Counselors, and other key stakeholders. The Specialist ensures students and adults gain essential workplace readiness, career exploration, and digital skills needed for future success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in education, social work, workforce development, technology, or a related field; OR equivalent experience in workforce development or training.
  • Minimum of 1 – 2 years of experience in youth development, workforce training, or program facilitation, preferably with individuals with disabilities (Preferred).
  • Proven experience in recruitment, program design, and virtual facilitation.
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging curriculum including essential workplace readiness, career exploration, and digital skills.
  • Experience delivering accessible virtual training using inclusive methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain partnerships with schools, community organizations, and employers.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
  • Strong track-record of managing projects from beginning to end.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with assistive technologies, including screen readers, braille displays, magnification software, and other accessibility tools. (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Pre-ETS curriculum, workshops, and skill-building sessions for High School and College Students who are blind or visually impaired.
  • Create and deliver curriculum that builds confidence, skills, and career readiness for adults and students who are blind or visually impaired.
  • Deliver virtual and in-person classes on assistive technologies, professional skills, and technical trainings, for adults and students who are blind or visually impaired.
  • Work with students to identify their skills and post-secondary preferences.
  • Onboard program candidates, including creating a sustainable schedule, adhering to process, and preparing documentation required for state/regional agencies.
  • Engage community partners and recruiting program participants to all Ablr Workforce Development Programs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate networking events.
  • Maintain accurate records of students, candidates, and partner interactions in a database.
  • Track and document student attendance, progress, assessments, and outcomes.
  • Communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders including, but not limited to, Instructors, Job Developers, DSB Counselors, teachers, families, and partner schools.
  • Adapt learning materials to ensure accessibility and appropriate skill level for students and adults.
  • Support development of new program modules, activities, and enrichment experiences.
  • Provide timely reporting and documentation required by state/regional agencies.
  • Track participant progress and gather feedback to improve training and program effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to host events and develop and distribute promotional materials, including flyers, brochures, and social media posts.
  • Participate in business development activities to support program expansion and sustainability.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
