About The Position

L3Harris’ Communication Systems segment is currently seeking a Specialist Systems Engineer to join our team. This position will be based at our Salt Lake City facility. Position Overview: The Specialist, Systems Engineer will be responsible for the life-cycle support of protected SATCOM data link systems from conceptual development through product phase-out. This includes proposal support, requirements analysis and management, task planning, technical documentation (including generation of Statements of Work and specifications), design oversight participation, design synthesis in a multi-functional engineering environment, build and test support, subcontract control, risk management input, integration and verification test support, system deployment support and in-house technical support during the operational life-cycle of the system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.

  • Knowledge of L3Harris processes (specifically P601) preferred.

  • SAP Tool
  • Visio Tool
  • SAPME would be a plus
  • LRU and CCA troubleshooting skills
  • Computer H/W and S/W troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of Servers, Multiplexers, Routers, and Switches (COMSEC devices are a plus)
  • Networking experience is a plus, knowledge of protocols
  • Satellite Communication experience is a plus
  • Prefer candidates who are familiar with either Cascade, IDHC or DSA programs.

Responsibilities

  • Working with RF lab test equipment including signal generators, spectrum analyzers and power meters.
  • Modem testing/design
  • Use of network analysis tools such as IXIA and Wireshark.
  • Designing, building, testing and optimizing complex electrical systems.
  • Provides systems engineering expertise in a broad field of engineering, research, evaluation and development for highly complex and technical SATCOM, airborne and ground products
  • Assists in the planning and conducting of technical projects or portions of projects.
  • Assists in the capture and/or management of customer and derived requirements, decomposition and assignment of requirements to appropriate functional areas of responsibility, insuring traceability from a verification test matrix back to original customer and system level derived requirements.
  • Provides support to lead engineers in developing technical specifications, interface control documents, test plans and procedures, configuration analysis and processing solutions, and test conformance to specifications.
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance.
  • This person must be willing to travel 4-6 times a year and sometimes over a weekend.
