About The Position

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Modeling & Simulation Engineer to support high-visibility national security space programs. This role focuses on developing and executing high-fidelity space mission simulations to evaluate spacecraft performance, mission resilience, and operational effectiveness in contested and dynamic environments. The selected candidate will apply astrodynamics, analytical modeling, and mission-focused simulation techniques to support operational planning, system performance analysis, mission protection, and digital engineering initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Top Secret/SCI with CI Poly required.
  • 2 years of experience demonstrating the ability to translate operational requirements into executable simulation architectures.
  • 2 years experience with modeling tools such as STK, ODTK, GMAT, FreeFlyer, or Python-based analytical environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Space Domain Awareness (SDA), Mission Protection, or national security space operations programs.
  • Knowledge of threat modeling and contested space environments.
  • Experience supporting wargaming or operational exercises in coordination with Department of War (DoW) and Intelligence Community (IC) organizations, including U.S. Space Force and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).

Responsibilities

  • Experience with orbital mechanics modeling and space mission analysis.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain high-fidelity space mission models and simulations supporting operational planning, performance analysis, and mission assurance activities.
  • Perform orbital mechanics modeling including orbit propagation, maneuver analysis, rendezvous and proximity operations (RPO), conjunction assessment, and/or covariance analysis.
  • Develop and execute threat-informed simulation scenarios incorporating adversary capabilities, red vs blue modeling, and Space Domain Awareness (SDA) considerations.
  • Present technical findings, risk assessments, and analytical insights to program leadership and/or customer stakeholders.
  • Support exercise planning, wargaming activities, and mission rehearsal simulations as required.
