The FIT BSA (Finance & Investments Technology Business Solution Area) that supports Nationwide’s finance organization by providing and running the applications that enable core financial, risk, and reporting processes end‑to-end is looking to hire an experienced software engineer. This role will be a part of the Vanguard agile team in FIT / InvestTech. This is the product team that builds and runs technology for Investments Operations and Controllership, with a heavy focus on investment accounting and securities pricing. Vanguard owns and supports key Investments apps such as PAM for Investments (PFI), Precision Loan Management (PLM/LMS), Securities Pricing (web, desktop, batch, agent), and ARENA. In addition to core JAVA skills, API expertise (APigee, SOAP, etc.) would be key skills desired. Additionally, Cloud and Platform services would be preferred. This role will be filled in our Columbus, OH office on a hybrid schedule. As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Requirements

  • Completion of undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
  • Four or more years of analysis and technology experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript.
  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to tackle complex business and development problems.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • API expertise (APigee, SOAP, etc.) would be key skills desired.
  • Cloud and Platform services would be preferred.
  • Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.
  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
  • Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
  • Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
