This role will work a hybrid schedule coming into the Columbus, Ohio office 2 days (Mondays & Tuesdays) per week. This role will be within Technology Nationwide Financial (NF) Integrated Digital Services (IDS). This is an exciting opportunity to work on the World’s #1 CRM Salesforce. We are looking for a Specialist, Software Engineer to work on the Salesforce platform as well as other emerging technologies. As a key technical contributor, you’ll work hands‑on with a diverse technology stack spanning Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, and cloud‑native tools. Your ability to navigate Linux environments, leverage command‑line workflows, and apply modern data‑integration patterns will be essential as you help shape high‑quality, maintainable applications and services. Experience with platforms such as Spring Boot, Apigee, Kafka, Snowflake, Rancher, and AWS will enable you to effectively build and deploy distributed systems that power critical business functions. Beyond technical expertise, this role requires a strong sense of ownership and leadership. You’ll mentor teammates, champion best practices, and promote a culture of continuous improvement. Your calm, analytical approach to problem‑solving—especially under pressure—will help guide teams through complex challenges. You will also play a central role in enhancing operational excellence through clear documentation, knowledge sharing, and an ongoing commitment to learning emerging technologies and integration patterns. As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, and GitHub.
  • Strong aptitude working in Linux environments and using command-line tools.
  • Solid understanding of modern data integration patterns.
  • Familiarity with Relational Databases or Snowflake.
  • Experience with Spring Boot, Apigee, Liquibase, Kafka.
  • Exposure to GitHub Actions, Harness, Docker, Splunk, Rancher, AWS (experience building preferred).
  • Track record of leveraging AI to solve problems and create solutions.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ownership mindset with a drive for delivering quality outcomes.

  • 4+ years Java development or Salesforce Development (strongly preferred) experience with Apex and building Lightning Components
  • 3+ years experience with SOAP and REST based services.
  • Highly motivated individual willing to learn and participate in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem solving ability
  • Experience in all Integration Patterns: API/APIGEE, ETL (Informatica/Talend), Event Streaming (Kafka), and Salesforce APEX

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards in an agile environment.
  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
  • Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
  • Manages medium to large project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.
